Curated Quilters Retreat

The retreat
Step into a week of creative indulgence at the stunning Tudor-and-Medieval manor of Court House Farm, nestled in the charming village of Portishead. Situated in the walled gardens of this historic site, this retreat invites you to slow down, reconnect with your love of fabric and design and be inspired by a beautiful setting.
For four full days of stitching, camaraderie and creative refreshment, you’ll be immersed in a supportive atmosphere where your project evolves, your skills are honed and your creative senses awakened.
What you’ll do
• Guided workshops tailored for more confident makers looking to refine and elevate their work
• The kit included will provide you with curated fabrics, instructions and templates to begin a special project created just for this venue
• Ample open-studio time to work, ask questions and benefit from individual attention
• The space to share ideas with fellow makers, gain inspiration and leave the retreat with a finished top or a well-advanced project Essentially this is about creativity, connection and progress — you’ll have the support and freedom to make your piece your own.
As a residential guest, expect delicious fresh food created by our wonderful chef Kirstie, as well as tea, coffee and more throughout the day, and the bar is open for you from 6pm.

Judy Newman & Margaret Mew
Your tutor
Curated Quilt Retreats is the creative partnership of Judy Newman and Margaret Mew, two highly-regarded quilters, teachers and designers whose retreats are known for elegance, inspiration and hands-on skill development.
Judy Newman (Melbourne-based) is a designer, teacher and author who has been creating quilt patterns and tutoring for many years. Her aesthetic is timeless and refined, and she brings generous teaching energy and deep passion to the craft.
Margaret Mew is well-known for her mastery of reproduction-style fabrics, hand-piecing and appliqué. She has a deep understanding of antique textiles, and brings her teaching focus to slow stitching, rich fabrics and thoughtful design.
Together, Judy and Margaret curate retreats that offer more than just technique: you’ll leave enriched by their creative insights, inspired by their work, and supported in your quilting journey. Their previous retreats have taken place in beautiful venues in Australia, France and the UK. We are excited to co- host with them at Court House Farm.
